The original ITT Marlow Gemini Plus R75A-C whirlpool bath pump has been discontinued. This new 3/4 HP, 120V, 8.5-amp pump is designed to replace compatible R75A-C installations using a single-speed motor, built-in pneumatic air switch and matching plumbing configuration.

The replacement package includes the pump, two pump unions, a factory-installed power cord and six feet of air-switch tubing. It is intended for whirlpool bathtubs—not portable hot tubs, swimming pools or continuous-circulation spa systems.

Whirly Bros Verified Fitment

This pump is designed to replace compatible ITT Marlow Gemini Plus R75A-C installations rated for 115–120V operation, approximately 8.5 amps, single-speed operation and pneumatic air-button control.

Do not order by horsepower alone. Verify the original pump label, voltage, amperage, air-switch configuration, power cord, plumbing orientation, union connections and available installation space.

Need help confirming compatibility? Send Whirly Bros clear photos of the original pump label, complete pump, plumbing connections and power cord. Call or text (951) 897-1878 before ordering.

What Replaces the R75A-C Pump?

For compatible 115–120V whirlpool bathtub installations operated by an air button, this pump replaces the discontinued ITT Marlow Gemini Plus R75A-C.

The original R75A-C may also be associated with legacy manufacturer number A002E88C. The Gemini Plus II 0034F88C has also been documented as a replacement configuration for the R75A-C. Because different versions and private-label configurations were used over the years, these numbers should be combined with a complete electrical and plumbing comparison before ordering.

Compatibility and Cross-Reference Information

This replacement is intended for compatible pumps identified by one or more of the following model or family designations:

  • R75A-C — original ITT Marlow Gemini Plus pump designation
  • A002E88C — documented legacy manufacturer number associated with R75A-C
  • 0034F88C — documented Gemini Plus II replacement configuration
  • NR2A-C — related 8.5-amp air-switch pump designation
  • NRU2A-C — replacement designation found in some applications and product records

Cross-reference numbers do not guarantee fit by themselves. Manufacturers sometimes used similar model names on pumps with different cords, controls, plumbing connections or mounting arrangements. The complete configuration must be compared.

How to Confirm the Correct Replacement

Before ordering, confirm all of the following:

  • Model number: Look for R75A-C, A002E88C or another recognizable cross-reference on the original label.
  • Voltage: The original installation should be rated for approximately 115–120V AC.
  • Amperage: Compare the original motor rating with this replacement’s 8.5-amp rating.
  • Control method: Confirm that the bathtub uses a pneumatic air button and small air tube to switch the pump on and off.
  • Operating speed: This is a single-speed pump. It is not a variable-speed replacement system.
  • Plumbing orientation: Compare the suction and discharge positions with the product photographs.
  • Union connections: Confirm that the included unions can be connected to the existing plumbing.
  • Power connection: Compare the original cord and receptacle configuration.
  • Installation space: Measure the available length, width and height before removing the original pump.

What Is Included?

  • One new 3/4 HP R75A-C replacement pump
  • Built-in pneumatic air switch
  • Factory-installed power cord
  • Two pump unions
  • Six feet of air-switch tubing

Additional plumbing fittings, PVC pipe, adhesive, electrical modifications and mounting materials are not included unless specifically shown or selected separately.

How the Built-In Air Switch Works

This pump is controlled by a pneumatic air button mounted on the bathtub. Pressing the button sends a pulse of air through the small air tube to the switch inside the pump’s electrical enclosure. The first press turns the pump on, and the next press turns it off.

The air tube must be connected securely and must not be kinked, split or blocked. A damaged air button or leaking tube can prevent an otherwise functional pump from turning on.

Common Signs the Original Pump Has Failed

  • The motor hums but does not start
  • The pump does not respond when the air button is pressed
  • Water leaks from the shaft-seal area
  • The motor makes loud bearing or grinding noises
  • The motor overheats or shuts down
  • The pump repeatedly trips the GFCI
  • The wet end is cracked or damaged
  • Jet pressure has become noticeably weaker
  • The pump produces excessive vibration

Not every no-start condition means the pump has failed. The air button, air tubing, electrical receptacle and GFCI should also be inspected before replacing the pump.

Important Installation Notes

  1. Turn off and disconnect electrical power before accessing the pump.
  2. Confirm the replacement specifications against the original pump label.
  3. Photograph the original plumbing, wiring and air-tube arrangement before disassembly.
  4. Remove the original pump and inspect the existing plumbing for cracks or damage.
  5. Install the supplied unions while maintaining proper alignment with the pump connections.
  6. Use the correct seals or O-rings and hand-tighten the union connections evenly.
  7. Do not use thread-sealing tape on union connections that seal with an O-ring or gasket.
  8. Connect the bathtub’s air button to the built-in air switch using the supplied tubing.
  9. Secure the pump to a stable, level mounting surface to reduce movement and vibration.
  10. Connect the pump only to a properly grounded and GFCI-protected 120V receptacle.
  11. Fill the bathtub above the highest jet before operating the pump.
  12. Test the plumbing connections for leaks before completing the installation.

Never operate a whirlpool pump without water in the bathtub. Running the pump dry can damage the mechanical seal and may cause leaking shortly after installation.

Professional installation is recommended when electrical access, plumbing alignment or equipment compatibility is uncertain.

R75A-C Frequently Asked Questions

Is the original R75A-C pump discontinued?

Yes. The original ITT Marlow Gemini Plus R75A-C is discontinued. This product is a modern aftermarket replacement designed for compatible R75A-C whirlpool bathtub installations.

What is the replacement for an R75A-C pump?

For compatible 115–120V, approximately 8.5-amp systems operated by a pneumatic air button, this pump replaces the discontinued R75A-C. The 0034F88C Gemini Plus II configuration has also been documented as a replacement reference.

Is A002E88C the same as R75A-C?

A002E88C is a documented manufacturer number associated with the legacy 3/4 HP R75A-C configuration. The remaining electrical, control and plumbing details should still be verified.

What is the difference between R75A-C and NR2A-C?

These names are associated with related legacy and replacement-pump configurations. The model name alone is not enough to confirm compatibility because air switches, cords, plumbing and packaging configurations may differ. Compare the complete specifications and product photographs before ordering.

Is this an original ITT Marlow pump?

No. The original ITT Marlow Gemini Plus pump is discontinued. This is a new aftermarket pump designed to replace compatible original installations.

Is this a hot-tub or spa pump?

No. This product is intended for compatible whirlpool bathtubs. It should not be selected for a portable hot tub, swimming pool or continuous-circulation spa system solely because the original pump has a similar appearance.

Does the pump include an air switch?

Yes. The pneumatic air switch is built into the pump.

Does it include pump unions and air tubing?

Yes. Two pump unions and six feet of air-switch tubing are included.

Why do some R75A-C listings say 8.5 amps, 9 amps or 10.5 amps?

Legacy labels and third-party product records may show different electrical ratings for similarly named pump configurations. The replacement sold on this page is rated at 8.5 amps. Do not assume that every pump called R75A or R75A-C is electrically identical; compare the actual original label before ordering.

Will the replacement connect without cutting the plumbing?

It is designed to align with many compatible R75A-C installations, and two pump unions are included. However, previous repairs, altered plumbing and different factory configurations can affect alignment. Compare your installation with the product photographs before assuming that no plumbing modification will be required.

Can Whirly Bros confirm compatibility before I order?

Yes. Send clear photos of the original motor label, complete pump, plumbing connections, power cord and air-switch tubing. Call or text (951) 897-1878 for assistance.
